Characters

Jake: Jake is a strong, cool-under-fire, natural leader-type. But it’s not like he ever asked to be in charge of the Animorphs. It just sort of happened that way. His dreams of becoming a Navy pilot and a doctor came to a sudden stop when he and his friends followed his dog Homer to a landing UFO, only to discover that his life was going to make a complete turn-around. Nicknamed “Fearless leader”, Jake fights even harder to defeat the Yeerks when he finds out that his all-star athlete brother Tom is a controller. Being a little reluctant about becoming the leader, and not always comfortable with everyone looking up to him, he’s really responsible, and he’ll deal.

Cassie: Cassie (aka, Tree-hugger) is the one who nurtures the others when something is wrong. She’s the level-headed one who, even if she doesn’t have the solution, is willing to at least try something. She lives with her parents John and Aisha, who both own an animal farm, and her career goal is to become a zoo veterinarian, following in her parents footsteps. Cassie is the loving strength that keeps Jake, Rachel, Marco and Tobias focused on their unasked-for mission: Save the Earth from the Controllers and their Yeerk salves.

Marco: Marco is witty, smart and sarcastic. He is the one who always has some wisecrack or comment when the Animorphs are planning their skirmishes with the Controllers and the Yeerks. Only growing up with his father (his mother presumed dead), he feels it is his responsibility to take care of him and watch after him. In fact, he is the one who actually came up with the word “Animorphs”. And though Tobias is the mysterious one, there’s something strange going on back at Marco’s home with his dad, Jeremy. His advice, “Don’t try this at home!”.

Rachel: Long blond hair flying in the wind, bright eyes flashing with anticipation and excitement — that’s Rachel, the adventurer who’s always out-front, ready to try anything, and ready to try it first. Rachel loves Gymnastics and loves to go shopping, which is why her friends give her the nickname “Ms. Fashion”. Fearless, head-strong, athletic, and smart, Rachel is girl power to the max. It’s not by coincidence that her main morph is the lion, the fearless, powerful queen of the jungle.

Tobias: Brooding and mysterious, Tobias is the one who didn’t know Jake, Rachel, Cassie and Marco before the incident at the contruction site. He’s the loner who showed up pretty much the same time Elfangor did with little explanation about his background. Yet in a strange way, he was able to instinctively bond with the other four. His parents died when he was young, so he never knew who they were. In an attempt to set some Controllers free, Tobias vanshied from the group and went over the two-hour-morphing rule. He now keeps a close eye on his friends as a Hawk from a distance nearby.
