All Grown Up

Summary

Follows the adventures of the whole Rugrats gang. But, now they’re all grown up. Angelica’s nicer, Chuckie’s a risk taker, and the rest of the gang have changed too. The adventures follow the gang in their pre-teen/teen years. Don’t forget Spike and the grown ups; they’re older, too.

Characters

Tommy: Tommy Pickles has changed quite a bit since he was a baby. For one thing, he now has a full head of hair! Some things, however, are still the same: Tommy and Chuckie are still best friends, and Tommy is the guy all his friends turn to when they need advice or guidance. Tommy has done very well in school, getting good grades in almost every class. Still, the pressure of studying and keeping up with his pals can cause him to do strange things, like steal garden gnomes while sleepwalking around the neighborhood! Tommy has also developed a budding talent for making films, and is no doubt on his way to becoming a famous director! Just like he was as a baby, Tommy is brave, loyal, and is eager to join in on any adventure.

Dil: Dil Pickles has grown quite a bit from the little baby we first saw in The Rugrats Movie! He is now 9 years old, and enjoys wearing bizarre outfits, talking in code and getting any information he can about alien abuctions! His Principal, Mr. Pangborn, thinks Dil is a bit too strange, and almost went crazy himself trying to psychoanalyze what could be wrong with him. Could it possibly be caused by Phil and Lil accidentally dropping Dil on his head when he was a baby? Maybe… Or perhaps Dil is just one of those utterly unique individuals who doesn’t try to be weird… he just is!

Chuckie: Chuckie has changed in many ways since he was a baby. For one thing, he isn’t as scared of the world as he once was, and is even willing to take a risk now and then! He now likes girls, and will go to great lengths to get their attention, including dressing up like a foreign exchange student or being nice to Angelica. Chuckie is still best friends with Tommy, and often turns to him for advice. Although Chuckie may not be the scaredy cat he used to be, his wild red hair and glasses haven’t changed much at all!

Phil: Phil DeVille has grown in many ways independent of his sister. When they were babies, each of the twins wore the same outfits, and it wasn’t very easy to tell them apart. Now Phil and Lil dress differently, act differently and have different friends. Still, some things are the same. Phil is still into being gross, and is still great friends with Tommy and Chuckie. Although he doesn’t share a room with Lil any more, she is still his twin, and both of them continue to have adventures together.

Lil: It was Lil DeVille’s friends who inspired her to assert her independence and move out of the room she shared with her brother Phil. Of course, their reasons were based on popularity: they liked Lil, but thought her brother was gross. But being a twin, Lil ended up sticking up for Phil and leaving that crowd in favor of being loyal to her brother. Besides the fact that they now dress differently, Lil has developed a few other quirks that make her much different from her brother. For one thing, she is a bit superstitious, wearing lucky hats and shoes she feels will help her do well on tests at school.

Kimi: Kimi Finster has grown into a very cool, free thinking and independent pre-teen. She likes bizarre music, dressing funky, and even finds a potential crush in the form of her green haired classmate Z! Still, Kimi is a devoted sister to Chuckie, offering her sibling support in matters of the heart and advice on how he can increase his confidence. But Chuckie can be a bit over-protective of his sister sometimes, a fact that Kimi appreciates but sometimes finds annoying.

Angelica: Angelica Pickles may not be as big a brat as she was when she was 3, but she still has a way of getting her cousins Tommy and Dil to do her bidding. She also has a great deal of influence over her pre-school pal Harold, who is more than eager to do whatever she asks him. Of course, Susie Carmichael is not so easy to sway, and is often a thorn in Angelica’s side when it comes to her plans to manipulate situations to her advantage. Angelica has mellowed a bit, however. She is not above asking even Susie for advice in the realms of social climbing, and has even tried her hand at being a mentor for a young child (to further her own interests, of course!) Angelica still has delusions of grandeur when it comes to her talent as a singer, and manages to find ways to torture her fellow students with her off-key ballads.

Susie: Susie Carmichael is the one member of the Rugrats group who they all look up to (even Angelica, although it would pain her to admit it!) Susie is a great student, as well as a very talented singer. Her dream is to become a pop star like Emica, and although she has what it takes to make it, she still has a few lessons to learn on the road to success. Still, with her brains and determination, Susie will no doubt make her mark.

Harold: Harold has known Angelica and Susie since pre-school, and reminds them of that fact every chance he gets. He is good natured and means well, but Harold can tend to be a bit annoying, to say the least. His social skills have a lot to be desired, and he often matches Phil in terms of grossness, although most of the time he is oblivious as to how gross he is. Despite her constant put-downs, Harold dotes on Angelica, and he may be the only guy out there who worships her the way she wishes everyone would.

Savannah: Savannah is the leader of the popular crowd at the Rugrats school. She is the girl Angelica attempts to emulate and the one who determines who is and isn’t cool. First introduced in the “All Grown Up” special as Angelica’s friend “Samantha” who Chuckie has a crush on, we learn that now a few things (besides her name) have changed. Chuckie’s interests now lie elsewhere, and Angelica and Savannah are not the good friends they were in the AGU Special. In fact, Savannah looks down on her since she has been a popular teen for much longer than Angelica has.

Nicole: Nicole Boscerelli is Chuckie’s new love interest. She is smart and funny, and although Chuckie goes through a lot to find this out, likes him for who he is and not what he pretends to be. Nicole is somewhat gullible, at first believing that Chuckie is actually Jongo, a foreign exchange student from Latvia that dresses like a wacky disco dancer. As Chuckie tries to sum up the courage to talk to her as himself, Nicole ends up meeting the “real” Chuckie at Java Lava. When Nicole tries to set up a meeting between Jongo and Chuckie, things get kind of complicated. Still, in the end, Nicole proves to be a very open-minded girl with a good sense of humor.

Z: When we first meet Z, he is busy causing a science experiment to blow up in Chuckie and Kimi’s class. When Kimi is paired up with Z so that he can finish his experiment correctly, she gets to know him and they decide to hang out after school. The thought of Kimi hanging out with a “bad boy” doesn’t sit to well with either Chas or Chuckie, who try to convince Kimi that he is bad news. But, as Kimi already knew and Chuckie was to find out, you can’t always judge a book by its cover, as Z turns out to be a very cool guy.
