Doug
Characters
Doug Funnie : Doug Funnie is an average kid with an above-average imagination. Junior high is no piece of cake for Doug. He’s crazy about a girl named Patti Mayonnaise, he’s tormented by bully Roger Klotz and he keeps getting himself into messes. But when the going gets rough, Doug’s imagination gets going. He transforms himself into Quailman–with a pair of briefs worn over his shorts and a leather belt around his head. No stranger to embarrassment, humiliation or feeling out of place, somehow Doug always manages to land on his feet. |
Skeeter Valentine: Skeeter is Doug’s best friend, and best friends are important when you’re the new kid in school. Skeeter’s certainly one of a kind. He’s blue–not sad blue, but the color blue. He also sometimes honks twice like an old car before speaking. According to Skeeter, there’s nothing better than going around and around in circles and not getting anywhere. But Skeeter is well-liked–probably because Skeeter likes himself. And Skeeter’s friends are glad to have him around. |
Patti Mayonnaise : Seventh-grader Patti Mayonnaise is amazing. She’s sensitive, she’s a gifted gourmet, she can hit the long ball on the softball field and she has a Southern accent that could melt butter–not to mention Doug’s heart. Is there anything Patti can’t do? Well, she doesn’t like to lose and she has pretty high standards. But Patti is one of the people who make Doug’s life worth living. They’re close friends–not as close as Doug would like, but that’s OK for now. |
Roger Klotz : There aren’t too many nice things to say about Roger Klotz. He’s a bully. But Roger isn’t the tough guy he wants everyone to think he is. If you stand up to him, he’s a big sissy. Just ask Doug or Mr. Bone at school. Or ask the friendly little snake Doug found in the woods–Roger was terrified of the squirmy thing. So what’s Roger’s deal? Who knows? He’s shifty and nasty, but his bark is much worse than his bite. |
| Beebe Bluff: A purple-”skinned” rich girl. She is a friend of Patti, Doug, and Skeeter. She has an on-again/off-again relationship with Doug’s best friend, Skeeter. She is the daughter of Bill Bluff, a rich businessman and descendant of Bluffington’s founder, Thaddeus Bluff. Her mother owns the town’s ballet school. Her rich family background makes her somewhat spoiled, and therefore, a bit of a snob and constant whiner. Beebe was voiced by Alice Playten. |
Judy Funnie: Judy is Doug’s older sister, a self-absorbed, melodramatic wannabe actress who never steps out of the spotlight. Although she makes life difficult and embarrassing for her brother at times, she loves him, and he digs her, too. Alas, to Judy, Doug will always be a part of the supporting cast… |
Porkchop: Most dogs can fetch and roll over. But Doug’s dog Porkchop tap dances, plays chess and does a mean impression of Doug. Porkchop lives in an igloo-shaped dog house, complete with a satellite dish and a modest art collection. He even has his own mailbox. Even though Porkchop loves to clown around, he’s fiercely loyal to Doug. When Doug faces off with Roger Klotz, Porkchop stands right beside him. |
Bud Dink: Bud tends to overdo it. Whether he’s buying the latest must-have piece of gadgetry as soon as it hits the market or imparting some of his relatively un-wise wisdom to Doug, you can count on Bud to be completely over the top. He’s a decent fella, though, and, for better or worse, he’s taken it upon himself to be Doug’s mentor. |
Stinky: Stinky? Well, Stinky the cat is just plain old stinky. He is owned by Roger and follows the same actions as Rodger with being the tough and rude cat. |
