Taina: She’s got the talent, the heart and the skills to make it HUGE as an entertainer—or at least that’s what she thinks. Actually, Taina probably will be a star, but that doesn’t change how weird it can be living life as a teen with big dreams in NYC. With the help of her friends and family, though, Taina just may become the next big thing!

Renee: Renee’s going to be a comedian when she graduates, but until she does, she’ll be fine-tuning her material on Taina, her best friend for life. And although they help each other out and crack each other up, Renee doesn’t laugh about getting Taina’s back. They’re tight like that.

Lamar: Lamar’s Taina’s friend who secretly wishes he was much more than that. Yeah, Lamar’s into Taina in a major way, but he’s definitely too shy to do anything about it. As he waits for the perfect time to spill his guts, Lamar stands by Taina every step of the way—when his face isn’t glued behind his video camera, that is.

Daniel: Daniel is basically Lamar’s other half. He shares a locker with Taina, so he sometimes gets the inside scoop on all that “girl stuff.” But you can trust Daniel with confidential info, so it’s cool. And he can play almost any style of music on almost any instrument, which comes in handy when your friends want to be stars!

Maritza: Maritza is Taina’s beautiful and talented arch Nemesis! The two have been rivals since kindergarten, and Maritza won’t let anything get between her and success! Except Taina, of course.

Eduardo: Taina’s dad is a sensible, professional guy who also really loves music—he actually designs music programs for computers. Eduardo worries about Taina and watches out for her, but his affection for the guitar really keeps him in touch with her dreams too.

Gloria: Gloria is fair and tough, but she loves music almost as much as she loves her family. The passion for the songs she and her sister sang as little girls has been passed onto her daughter—along with her good looks!

Abuelo: Gregorio is Taina’s grandfather, and he’s ultra-supportive of everything she tries to do. But he also plays another important role: Taina’s constant reminder of her Puerto Rican roots. Abuelo never lets her forget them.

Tita: Tita is Taina’s aunt. When she’s not reminiscing with Tai’s mom Gloria about their youth together, aunt Tita’s out with Taina shopping, laughing and gossiping. That’s what aunts are for.

Santito: Like any good little brother, Santito adores his big sister—but he still gets huge laughs out of sabotaging her plans every once in a while. He’s only 6, after all. He’s got to have some fun!

Cast
